In addition to original songs by Sue, Pancho, Cherie and Martin, the group played a mixture of 70's rock, pop, blues and jazz. Artists covered were: Bob Dylan, Bonnie Raitt, Fleetwood Mac, Jackson Browne, Joan Baez, Joni Mitchell, Judy Collins, Minnie Riperton, Peggy Lee, Stephen Stills and more.
Based on the windward side of Oahu, the band's first gig was the grand opening and a residency at Joan Schneider's new Pirate Bully Hayes club in Pearl City. Also playing at Pinky's Broiler in Kailua, many other gigs followed, such as, Kaneohe MCAS, Staff NCO Club and even... a 'Save The Whales' benefit concert.
Sweet Fire played a Kailua Beach Park concert, with 5 other local bands, on Sunday March 5th, 1978. On the morning of April 29th, 1978, they played the outdoor Honolulu Block Party sponsored / broadcast by KPOI Radio ~ drove to Blaisdell Arena for a sound-check in the afternoon ~ opened the sold-out concert of 8,800 for Shaun Cassidy that night [and again on the 30th] ~ then, went on to finish with 4 sets at Bully Hayes.
